When you weren’t there it got pretty lonely,
Within its circuits you’re the one and only
Source of affection, hugs and pokes,
Face-cleaning swipes and gentle strokes.
Once you left it started to sing,
With very high beeps and tones of the ring.
As the clock tocked, the sounds became higher,
Sounding like the alarm for a fire.
I came in and stood in awe,
Such a loud sound from a thing without a jaw.
This is why I came to get you here,
I know you were busy reading Shakespeare.
